Director of Trauma Required- National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre Darwin

The National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre is seeking a Director of Trauma. The position is available from December 2017 until June 2019 and is located at Royal Darwin Hospital. RDH is the major teaching hospital in the Northern Territory and receives Trauma referrals from across the NT and northern WA with a catchment of over 500 000 km2 managing approximately 700 seriously injured patients per year.

The successful applicant will be responsible in collaboration with the Trauma Coordinator for the management, clinical supervision, governance and medical leadership of the Royal Darwin Hospital Trauma Service in accordance with the strategic directions set for the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre.

The successful applicant will also provide specialist surgical advice and support for the activities of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre and AUSMAT (Australian Medical Assistance Teams) including Education, Research, and Training related to the deployment of Australia’s surgical field facility in response to an event in the Asia-Pacific.

Previous experience with indigenous and remote health and clinical currency in burns surgery is desirable.
